In this week on Whatever Wednesdays, let’s talk about love – very briefly before I go to bed.
Firstly, what does the Bible say about love/charity?
I Corinthians 13: 4 and 5 says –
4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil.
Whilst most persons use the Bible as a manual to their lives, we – yes we, tend to not follow the Good Book’s instructions to a ‘T’ then get upset when we can’t find or sustain love. On the other side of the spectrum some of us – yes us, follow the instructions to the point where we become used and ‘walked over’ because we try to over think what the Bible is saying or we try to go the exxxxxtra mile – most times for the wrong person or for all the WRONG reasons even when God tries to redirect us. It is said that women either act extremely strong willed or act as total ‘push overs’, few have found the healthy balance of knowing when to be submissive and when to guide their significant other. Why do we stay to one side of the spectrum? Because of the effects of love, the experience of others or the effects of love lost; of course.
Side note – Never let the words of someone negatively affect your emotions or your integrity. Be in control of you.
I digress! We should learn to live I Corinthians 13: 4 and 5 – for example we should learn to forgive; be kind; envy not; think pure thoughts; control your anger and emotions at all times – it may be hard to do but done right you will find and sustain love – God is never wrong. By doing so we will love in the true sense of the word and we will attract the right partner and the right friends.
Dr. Farrah Gray to whom I hold in high esteem, has an e-book entitled ‘Strong Women Only Intimidate Weak Men’, the book delves into how to be a strong woman – the right way, knowing your worth and how to attract the right partner in your life – now we don’t need a book to tell us all that but we do need a little reinforcement sometimes.
